Yes, the weekend is finally here!  If you are in the Chicago area you are probably having a bit of cabin fever from this snowy weather we have been having!  It’s the perfect time to stay inside and have a DIY party!  Call over some friends and tell them to come over for some DIY fun and some snacks.  Each guest can bring a DIY of their choice that they are wanted to do along with the supplies needed to create it.  Sounds like fun to the Photo booth to the Stars!

Here are some really cool DIY’s that we have come across that will hopefully inspire you!

First up on the list are these gilded clay feathers that would look amazing in your photo booth as well as hung on trees, create a mobile, chandelier, garland, or as a place setting.
All you need to create them is some sculpey oven bake clay in white, a gold leafing pen, rolling pin, sculpting tools, and some gold thread.

Then you just roll out the clay and cut your feathers with the sculpting tools, bake them, let them cool while you move on to the next diy, and then once they are cool use the gold leaf pen to work your majic.  Wonder if you could also use the ever-growing popular gold sharpies to create the same effect if you have it on hand?  To see the whole tutorial you can head over to 100 Layer Cake.

Check out these DIY party lights we found that are made out of using coffee filters!  What a great idea and totally green as well since all you need is strands of Christmas lights, that you most likely know right where they are stored since it wasn’t too long ago that you stashed them back away.  Now for the coffee filters you just dip them into food coloring or watercolor so they can be customized to match any color scheme.  Love that!

These cork coasters will get you in the mood for spring.  Even if it seems like it is never going to get here, it is on the way…we think?  This is a fun DIY that everyone can do.  All you need are 4 cork coasters that you can find at your local craft store, a bottle of spray paint, a foam brush, crafting paint and a stamp kit.  You could also use a stencil instead of the stamp if you have it on hand.  Get creative here people, it’s a DIY party after all!

Now we all know there is no such thing as a party with out food so we have to include some DIY food ideas.  Now obviously whatever you choose to include in your menu at your DIY party is up to you, but it’s always nice to send guests off with a favor!  We found this list of 25-diy-food-gifts-in-a-jar ideas from buzzfeed.com that we hope you will enjoy and pick one or all to make at your party.  You can see all 25 ideas HERE.

We thought it would be a nice treat to make enough for everyone to take home a few of these diy food jars so that your guests can gift the additional items to someone they love.  Valentines Day is right around the corner so keep that in mind and you’ll be prepared!

Have a safe and happy weekend from the Photo Booth to the Stars team!

Happy DIY-ing!
